HindSight Consulting was founded by Darryl Lester in 2001. Darryl has transformed his ideas of inspiring New Philanthropy to Build equitable communities into a company that provides tools and strategies to assist organizations build communities by design instead of by accident or out of crisis. For over thirteen years, Darryl has been assisting organizations and individuals be more effective in dealing with issues of race and equity, intentional in developing strategic plans and insightful in creating assessment models to monitor progress, impact and change. Darryl's core work has been organizing and assist individuals and organizations to develop strategic ways to invest their Time, Talent, and Treasure in order to build and sustain healthy communities.

Darryl's professional experience includes Director of Community Leadership and Program Director at the Triangle Community Foundation; Program Director for 4-H Youth Development at North Carolina State University; Program Director at North Carolina Public Allies; Assistant Dean at UNC-Chapel Hill in the College of Arts & Sciences; Assistant Coordinator of African American Student Affairs at NC State University and counselor at Shaw University.

Darryl's community and civic involvement includes former Trustee for the Warner Foundation, Board member for the Fund of Southern Communities, Founder of Bridge Builders; a mentoring and coaching program for school age African American males. Darryl is also a graduate of the 1996 class of the Leadership Triangle and the 2000 inaugural class of the Hull Leadership Program for the foundation executives sponsored by the Southern Council of Foundations. Darryl's formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Finance from Wofford College in Spartanburg , South Carolina and a Master of Education in Counseling and Psychology from North Carolina State University . He also studied abroad in Lome , Togo and Ghana , West Africa . Most recently he spent some time in South Africa understanding community philanthropy.
